Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of David John Petrie, 59, of Calgary Alberta, who passed away on July 5th 2026 after a short battle with cancer.

David was born on November 25, 1966 and is predeceased by his parents Daniel & Maria Petrie. He is survived by his siblings: Jim (Simone), Brenda, & Shelly (Cliff) & his nieces & nephews Zack, Jessi, Julie, Sarah and Angie.

Dave had a lifetime passion for sports, weightlifting, and music. He also enjoyed family gatherings with his sisters and their children in Calgary.

There will be no service at this time as per Dave's request. The family would like to thank the staff at Rockyview Hospital & Intercare Chinook Hospice for their care and kindness in Dave's final days.

My brother Dave had a difficult life and was presented with many challenges but my sister and I were talking yesterday and agreed that through all his challenges he always remained so kind. That’s how I will always remember him. My kind older brother who always found time to throw a baseball with me and play frisbee golf. (Which I’m sure we invented!!) I will miss you Dave….I will think of you often….XOXO

Sad to have learned of Dave's passing. I will always remember watching wrestling with him when we were kids or when he was singing back-up to Cousin Jim during one Christmas gathering. He was smart and funny but more than anything he was always kind. That is a great legacy for anyone to hope to leave.
